Founded in 2015, the CALDER Policymakers Council (PMC) is a group of state and local leaders convened by CALDER to support exchanges between policy and research: CALDER draws on PMC members’ ideas, experiences, and dilemmas to inform its research agenda. The PMC learns from CALDER researchers about rigorous, cutting-edge evidence on pressing policy issues. As PMC founding member Carrie Conaway writes, “If research is insufficiently used in policymaking, it’s because we have too few conversations between the policy and research communities, not because we have too few policy briefs.” The PMC aims to make those conversations happen. CALDER gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the Walton Family Foundation, whose funding supports the PMC.
