Meagan Comb is currently the Director of Educator Effectiveness at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In this role she works with a team of 13 individuals to support human capital policy and implementation work in areas such as educator evaluation, induction and mentoring, teacher recognition, educator preparation & assessment, licensure policy and leadership development. Prior to this role, Meagan managed the educator preparation accountability and data framework for the state of Massachusetts. Under her leadership, Massachusetts secured the Elevate Preparation: Impact Children (EPIC) grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and in doing so helped accelerate the pace of change and improvement within the state’s 71 preparation providers. Prepared as an elementary teacher at Boston University, Meagan taught elementary school in Durham, North Carolina and eventually moved out of the classroom into an instructional coaching role in NC and later on in a turnaround school in the Boston Public Schools. Throughout her teaching career, she also engaged part-time in policy and advocacy organizations, working at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the National Council for Teacher Quality and Teach Plus.
