Elise Dizon-Ross

Elise Dizon-Ross joins CALDER after serving as a Post-Doctoral Scholar at the California Policy Lab at UC Berkeley. She earned a PhD in Economics of Education from the Stanford Graduate School of Education, where she was an Institute of Education Sciences Fellow and a Stanford Graduate Fellow in Science and Engineering. Her research examines the impacts of economic inequality and access to basic needs on student outcomes and the education sector, from K-12 through higher education. She is particularly interested in the intersections of housing policy, housing instability, and the social safety net with educational opportunity. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Elise worked with multiple nonprofit and public sector organizations to advance educational and job opportunities for disadvantaged groups, focusing on areas such as chronic absenteeism, out-of- school-time learning, and social entrepreneurship. In addition to her doctoral degree, she holds an M.A. and a B.A. in Economics from Stanford and an M.P.P. from UC Berkeley.
