Research Notes: Summer School Improves Math Achievement

In this research note from Future Ed, Tara Moon reports on newly released research from a team of CALDER, Harvard, Educational Testing Service, and Dartmouth experts which provides further evidence that summer school is effective in improving student math achievement. The study investigates 2023 summer school programs from eight large districts and uses value added models to examine their impact on achievement. They find similar effects to 2022, namely that students saw modest improvement in math, but none in reading. Click below for the full research note.
