NAEP scores show disheartening trends for the lowest-performing students

This Wednesday, NCES released results from the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) — a nationally representative assessment in math, reading, and other subjects — which showed persisting declines in math and reading scores among the nation's lowest-performing students. CALDER's Dan Goldhaber, who previewed results as a member of IES's Standing Committee, commented, "I think we will look back in 25 years, and we will see all these kids have these outcomes in life that were predicted by this major decline.
