Stacey Preis is an education policy consultant supporting work on state longitudinal data systems and research in addition to other areas of education policy development and implementation. Preis is the former Deputy Commissioner of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education where she led the offices of Adult Learning and Rehabilitation Services, College and Career Readiness, Data System Management, Educator Quality, Quality Schools and Special Education. Prior to serving as Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Preis spent six years with the Missouri General Assembly as Executive Director of the Joint Committee on Education. Her responsibilities included policy research, advising legislators on education issues, and serving as liaison to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Missouri Department of Higher Education. She recently worked with Saint Louis University to help launch the PRiME (Policy Research in Missouri Education) Center within the SLU School of Education. She holds three degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia including a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.
